Great Wyanokie Outing

Come to an old fashioned picnic by the lake with something for everyone.

This year’s event is a fund raiser for much needed repairs to the Wyanokie Dam. Please help support the Camp Wyanokie Association with a generous contribution if you can!


Free Barbeque Picnic Lunch: Barbeque and sides all prepared by our talented outdoor chef, Scott Maxwell…..we always serve really great food…come hungry! Lunch is at 12:30. Check out the new stone barbeque built by volunteers!


Fishing Contest: We provide the bait! Just bring your rod and reel and a bucket.. 9-11 AM. Prizes for everyone. Pre-registration is necessary for the fishing contest. Register online at www.campwyanokie.com. Dr. Paul Scollo of Fairfield will help you catch big bass, pickerel, crappie, catfish and bluegills! Catch and release only so bring that bucket to keep them alive! We’re stocking the lake this year with largemouth bass and catfish!


Nature Talks and Live Animals With Vince Sharp of the Turtle Back Zoo: All day! Our resident naturalist will be on hand once again with some of his scaled and feathered friends.


Stuff For Kids: 10:00-3:00 Games are run by Mike Colletti and staff from Roseland, North Caldwell and Faifield Recreation and include: Watermelon Seed Spitting Contest (always a favorite), horse shoes, three legged races…..and don’t miss out on the Wolf Howling Contest. Arts and Crafts with Ms. Emily Kenselaar of Caldwell from 10:00-11:00 and 1:00-2:00!


Guided Hikes: You won’t get lost…we promise! This year hikes will be led by Estelle Anderson and Karl Weiss of the New York and New Jersey Trail Conference and Bill Reddan, Leader of Troop 9 Boy Scouts. Gorgeous views and wild blueberries! If you’ve never hiked in New Jersey this is the way to start. Sign up for a hike on line or at the event. Hikes will be scheduled at 10:30 AM and 1:00 PM.


Live Music: Big lineup this year!: From 11:00 AM until it’s all over: Hot Jazz, Gospel, Blues, and Tin Pan Alley with the Caldwell Skillet Lickers and special guests. Also appearing: The Retro Men Quartet sing their funny accopella tunes, The James Caldwell High School Dixieland Band will blow us all away, and Corned Beef on Rye will play Ska, Reggae, and Rockabilly.
